Where We Place Our Trust
Date: December 18, 2025
Scripture Reading: Psalm 146:3
“Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.”
This verse confronts a common temptation of the human heart — placing ultimate hope in people. Leaders, systems, influence, and authority can appear strong and dependable, especially when we feel uncertain or vulnerable. But Scripture reminds us that no human power is capable of saving us in the way only God can.
Trusting people is not inherently wrong, but trusting them ultimately is. Humans are limited, imperfect, and temporary. Even the most well-intentioned leaders can fail, change, or fall short. When our confidence is anchored primarily in people, disappointment is inevitable. God alone remains constant, faithful, and fully able to sustain and save.
Psalm 146 redirects our focus upward. True security is not found in position, status, or influence, but in the Lord who reigns forever. When we place our trust in God, we anchor our hope in One whose power does not weaken and whose promises do not expire. He is not subject to time, failure, or limitation.
Main Takeaways
- Human strength and authority are limited and temporary.
