Satisfied in Him
Date: December 8, 2025
Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Jesus speaks directly to the deep desires of the human heart. Everyone is hungry for something, and everyone thirsts for fulfillment — but not everyone looks in the right place to find it. In this Beatitude, Jesus tells us that real satisfaction belongs to those who long for righteousness, who want their lives to reflect God’s heart, who crave His presence, His truth, and His ways above anything the world can offer.
Hunger and thirst are not passive desires. They demand pursuit. In the same way, a longing for righteousness is not a distant wish but an active desire to draw near to God, to walk in obedience, to seek His kingdom first, and to allow Him to shape our lives from the inside out. This kind of hunger is evidence of a heart awakened by grace.
Jesus also makes a promise — those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled. Not with temporary satisfaction or shallow comfort, but with the fullness that comes from Him alone. The world offers many things that can distract or temporarily soothe, but none of them truly fill the soul. Only Christ satisfies the hunger of the human heart.
