Not Worth Comparing

Date: January 27, 2026

Scripture Reading: Romans 8:18

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Paul does not deny the reality of suffering. He acknowledges it honestly and directly. Pain, hardship, and waiting are real parts of life in a broken world. Yet Paul places those experiences within a much larger perspective. What we face now, as heavy as it may feel, is not the full story.

This verse shifts our focus from the temporary to the eternal. Paul compares present suffering with future glory and declares that they are not even in the same category. The weight of what God is preparing far exceeds the weight of what we are enduring. Glory is not merely a distant reward; it is a promised reality that gives meaning to present trials.

Romans 8 reminds us that suffering is not wasted. God uses it to shape faith, deepen dependence, and prepare us for what is to come. Even when circumstances feel overwhelming, hope remains anchored in God’s promise. What is revealed later will bring clarity to what feels confusing now.

As we move through this season, this verse invites us to hold pain without letting it define us. Waiting does not mean God is absent. Difficulty does not mean defeat. God is at work, and His future glory gives strength for today.

Main Takeaways

  • Present suffering is real but temporary.
  • God’s future glory far outweighs current hardship.
