Love in Action
Date: February 21, 2026
Scripture Reading: 1 John 3:16-17
“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?”
John defines love through the example of Christ. Love is not merely spoken or felt. It is demonstrated. Jesus revealed the depth of love by laying down His life. That sacrifice becomes the standard by which we understand and practice love toward others.
This passage moves love from theory to responsibility. If Christ’s love lives within us, it should shape how we respond to need. Compassion that stops at emotion falls short. When we see a brother or sister in need and have the ability to help, love calls for action.
John challenges the disconnect between belief and behavior. Faith that reflects Christ cannot remain indifferent. Generosity, sacrifice, and willingness to serve become natural expressions of a heart transformed by grace. Love grows tangible when it is lived out in practical ways.
As we move through this season, 1 John 3:16-17 invites reflection on how we love. Are our words matched by action? Christ’s example compels us to move beyond comfort and into obedience that blesses others.
