Created With Purpose

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Paul shifts our understanding of identity by reminding us who we belong to and why we exist. We are not self-made or random. We are God’s handiwork — intentionally formed, carefully designed, and lovingly crafted. Our value is rooted not in what we accomplish, but in who created us.
This verse also clarifies the relationship between grace and works. We are not saved by good works, but we are saved for them. God’s grace brings us to life in Christ, and that new life naturally produces action. The good works we walk in are not surprises to God; they were prepared in advance. Our obedience becomes participation in what God has already planned.
Living with purpose means walking attentively. It means trusting that God has placed opportunities, relationships, and responsibilities in our path intentionally. When we surrender daily to Him, our lives begin to reflect His design, and even ordinary moments become meaningful acts of faithfulness.
Main Takeaways
- Our identity is rooted in being God’s workmanship.
- Good works flow from salvation, not toward it.
- God has prepared purpose-filled opportunities for us to walk in daily.
