Brought Near by His Blood
Date: November 27, 2025
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:13-14
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.”
Paul reminds us that before Christ, we were far from God — separated by sin, distance, and spiritual darkness. But through the blood of Jesus, everything changed. We were brought near, welcomed in, and given access to the Father through His sacrifice.
This nearness is not something we earn. It’s not based on our performance, goodness, or spiritual maturity. It is entirely the work of Christ, who removes the barriers that once separated us from God.
But Paul doesn’t stop at vertical reconciliation — he speaks of horizontal unity as well.
Christ Himself is our peace.
He tears down walls of hostility, division, and separation between people. Through Him, believers from every background become one body, united not by culture, preference, or personality, but by the cross.
- Where the world divides, Jesus unites.
- Where the world builds walls, Jesus breaks them down.
- Where the world fosters hostility, Jesus brings peace.
This is the heart of the gospel — reconciliation with God and reconciliation with each other.
Main Takeaways
- We were once far from God, but Christ’s sacrifice brought us near.
