Be Strong and Courageous
Date: January 3, 2026
Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Moses speaks these words at a moment of transition. The people of Israel are preparing to move forward without him, facing uncertainty, unfamiliar challenges, and the weight of what lies ahead. God does not minimize the difficulty of the road before them. Instead, He anchors their confidence in one unshakable truth: His presence.
Strength and courage are not presented as personality traits or emotional states. They are responses to trust. God does not say, “Be strong because you are capable,” or “Be courageous because the path is easy.” He says, “Be strong and courageous because I am with you.” Fear loses its power when we remember who walks beside us.
This promise speaks directly into seasons of change. When direction feels unclear, when responsibilities feel heavy, or when the future feels intimidating, God’s presence becomes our assurance. He does not send us forward alone. He does not abandon us mid-journey. Wherever He leads, He remains faithful to stay.
As a new season continues to unfold, this verse reminds us that obedience does not require certainty — it requires trust. Courage grows when we believe that God’s faithfulness is greater than our fear.
